Speaking from first hand experience, the most common form of visual decline happens in our 40′s and is referred to as presbyopia. It is when the lens in our eye loses its flexibility and we can’t focus on near objects anymore. One of my numerous speech pathologist patients was in to see me recently and when explaining that she had presbyopia, she told me that there is a condition called presbyphonia that I will also get at some point – great!!! It is when your voice changes and I will have an ‘old-man’ voice. So as it turns out, the prefix ‘presby’ is Greek and refers to old/elderly.

If this comes up at your next school trivia night, think of me, maybe? Not?
